Sculptra® Face Treatment

Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable treatment that works with your body to help it produce its own collagen. Made from poly L lactic acid (PLLA), it is used to restore lost facial volume, soften deep wrinkles and help firm sagging skin. Rather than filling lines directly, it prompts your skin to rebuild its natural support from within, so the changes build gradually and look like you.

How Sculptra is different

Most dermal fillers add volume instantly. Sculptra takes a different route. It works beneath the surface to encourage your own collagen production, which is why the results appear gradually over the following months and tend to look natural. The improvement comes from your own skin rather than from the product itself.

Sculptra® Face Treatment

What Sculptra helps with

  • Loss of facial volume in areas such as the cheeks and temples
  • Deeper lines and folds
  • Skin that has started to lose its firmness
  • A tired or hollow appearance
  •

What to expect

  • Sculptra is given as a course, usually a small number of sessions spaced several weeks apart.
  • Results develop gradually over three to six months as your collagen builds.
  • The effect can last a considerable time, often up to around two years, though this varies from person to person.
  • As an injectable, some redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising is normal for a short time afterwards, and small lumps can occasionally form, which is one of the things your practitioner will discuss with you.
  • A consultation with a qualified practitioner is required first, to assess whether Sculptra is right for you and to set realistic expectations.

Your questions answered

Important Info & Aftercare

  • Consultation & Managing Expectations: A mandatory assessment is required to review your facial anatomy and goals. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Sculptra works gradually by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production. Results will build over 3–6 months.

  • Bruising Prevention: Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior. Discontinue blood thinners and supplements (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, St. John’s Wort) 5–7 days before treatment to lower bruising risks.

  • Skin Priming: Stop using aggressive topical treatments (Retinol, Tretinoin, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide) 3 days before your procedure.

  • Cold Sore History: If you have a history of facial cold sores, please inform your practitioner during your consultation so a preventative antiviral prescription can be arranged.

  • Day of Treatment: Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face. Please arrive 30 minutes early if topical numbing cream is being applied in-clinic.

This treatment is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant/breastfeeding, or those with pacemakers, heart conditions, active thrombosis, diabetes, epilepsy, auto-immune conditions, or active skin infections (psoriasis/eczema) in the treatment area.

  • Massage the treated area exactly as your practitioner directs, often several times a day for the first few days, to help the treatment settle evenly
  • Apply a cool compress if there is any swelling or tenderness
  • Avoid makeup for the first 12 to 24 hours
  • Avoid heat, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers for the first day or two
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours
  • Stay out of direct sun and off sunbeds, and wear a high factor sunscreen
  • Drink plenty of water to support your skin
  • Contact the clinic if you have any concerns while you heal
