Waxing

Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hairs will not grow back in the previously waxed area for two to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. There are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair. If waxing is done regularly for several years, permanent hair reduction may be achieved.

Waxing is accomplished by spreading a thin layer of wax over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the wax along with the hair. Another method utilises hard wax (as opposed to strip wax). In this case, the wax is applied somewhat thickly and with no cloth or paper strips. The wax then hardens when it cools, thus allowing the easy removal by a therapist without the aid of cloths.

This is not a surface level facial. It is a clinical treatment aimed at long term skin quality and firmness, and it can be used on the face, neck and body.

Important Info & Aftercare

  • Hair Length Check: Ensure the hair is at least $\frac{1}{4}$ inch long (roughly the size of a grain of rice), usually about 2–3 weeks of growth since your last shave, so the wax can grip it efficiently.

  • Gently Exfoliate: Lightly exfoliate the area 24–48 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and help lift any trapped or flat hairs.

  • Skin Prep: Do not apply thick body oils, heavy body lotions, or fake tan on the day of your appointment.

  • Avoid Heat: Avoid sunbathing, sunbeds, or intense heat treatments for 48 hours prior.

This treatment is not suitable for individuals with any of the following conditions:

  • Sunburned, raw, or torn skin.

  • Active varicose veins or phlebitis in the area being waxed.

  • Open wounds, active skin infections, or contagious lesions.

  • Use of prescription topical acne creams (like Retin-A) or oral acne medications (Roaccutane) within the past 6 months (applies to facial waxing).

  • Cool and Calm: Apply a soothing aloe vera gel or antiseptic tea tree lotion to calm post-wax redness and soothe empty follicles.

  • Loose Clothing: Wear loose-fitting, breathable clothing (especially cotton) to avoid friction and sweat build-up on the waxed skin.

  • The 24–48 Hour Ban: Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, hot tubs, intense workouts, and fake tan for 24–48 hours to prevent irritation or follicle infections (folliculitis).

  • Prevent Ingrown Hairs: Starting 3 days after your wax, gently exfoliate the area 2–3 times a week using a body scrub or exfoliating mitt, and apply a hydrating lotion daily to keep the skin soft.
